Q: Requirements for enrollment

A: Woodward Montessori is licensed by the state of Oregon to allow children that are fully potty trained and a minimum of 30 months old through the age of five (5) years old.

Q: What is a Montessori program?

A: A Montessori program encourages children to make independent choices about the activities and topics they learn in a structured, mixed-age environment. Maria Montessori found that children learn best when a mixture of the senses (seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting & smelling) bring information to the brain. The more senses involved the easier it is for the children to process the information. Our teachers offer individualized lessons as children progress through increasingly complex ideas and activities at their own pace. Our classroom includes a large open area for group lessons and music circle. The children participate in activities in the sensorial, geography, math, pre-language and phonics, writing, science, practical life and art areas.
